The discussion consists of two major paragraphs with different situation, but both have to deal with the long term and short-term memory. Responding to the first paragraph, it emphasizes on the difficulties an individual faces while storing information, adapting it to assist in cognition, comprehension, and learning outcomes. It states that Short-Term Memory (STM) is different from working memory and an individual cannot remember long syllables unless he is aware of those words and phrases or he is good at it (Goldstein, 2011).

The second paragraph implies that the memory is a set of human cognition abilities. Thus, people remember those words, phrases and sentences, which are shorter and easy to pronounce (Nairne, 1995, pp. 429). On the other hand, it emphasizes on how vocabulary plays its role in understanding and remembering the words. For example, it is difficult for a reader to comprehend the medical terminologies and jargons unless he is aware of them. It is also evaluated that if it takes time to pronounce any word, thus, it will take time to remember, store and retrieve it.

The above discussion is based on the concept of working memory that a human being poses which changes as the passage of time. The primary function of this memory is that it assist individual in transcribing important message to other individual through form of verbal and non-verbal communications. In addition to this, working memory has been declared as completely different from short-term memory, as short-term memory is diseases that mostly occur to older age people; whereas working memory is an essential part of human lives.
