Part I: Include information about your educational background, work experience, and personal and professional goals, and who you are.

Let me tell you a little about myself, my name is Nicholas Colin Styles. I grew up in Mississippi with a single mother and two siblings an older brother and a younger sister. We were so poor, we had to wear our cousins “hand me downs”. Sometimes we didn't eat for days. In my household, there was always violence, because of the succession of boyfriends my mother had. I knew at an early age, I would do whatever it took to succeed in my endeavors to accomplish every task that is set before me. Looking at these statistics, I am supposed to be an anomaly that should fit in the “system”. The systems being a high school drop out with two illegitimate children, working in a factory.

I saw this dismal future becoming my own, I decided to leave. Please keep in mind that I was raised Baptist. So for sixteen years of my life, I was a Baptist. This religion never suited me. When I was sixteen years old, I moved to Minnesota searching for a better life. Here I found a better environment, from the one I experienced. But I felt out of place. My time there felt like high school all over again. I had no purpose, drive, nor direction of where I wanted to go, worse yet, how? Needless to say I was placed on academic suspension. This was probably the best thing for me, for I immediately went into the manufacturing work force. Also at this time, I converted from Baptist to catholic religion. Here I was exposed to the rigors of manual labor, and I knew that this was not for me.

I created a plan in motion, I would go back to school, retake all of the old classes and make better grades to earn my Associates, and then I would enlist in the armed services. I was determined to also learn more about the catholic religion and to give it my all. After a two year hiatus, I enrolled back into Norman dale Community College and I received my degree within two years, associates in generals. I graduated from Norman dale when I was twenty two years old.

I then enlisted in the Marine Corps and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. My motivation for joining the Marine Corps was simple. I knew that I didn't have the correct credentials and the right criteria to succeed at the next level. I was discharged honorably out of the Marine Corps within two years, due to third degree burns that was sustain during a training operation in Thailand. The doctors told me at the time that I had two choices, one ...
