Introduction

Dubai, located at the cross roads air and sea routes between the world Arab and Europe, is one of seven members the federation of UAE. The Palm Jumeirah is the smallest of a set of three artificial islands shaped like palm known as “Palm Islands ". It is located on the coastal area of Jumeirah in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (the UAE) and is, along with other palms, one of the largest artificial islands created by man (Anthony, 1998, p.25-29).

The island of Palm Jumeirah is primarily a residential area for living, relaxation and leisure. It will contain themed hotels, three types of villas (Signature Villas, Garden Homes and Town Homes), coastal apartment buildings, beaches, marinas, restaurants, cafes and a variety of points of sale at retail. The Palm Jumeirah will contain over 25 of the hotels internationally renowned brands including Movenpick Resort Oceana Palm Jumeirah, Moevenpick Resort & Spa Palm Jumeirah, Antara, Fairmont Palm Residence, Radisson SAS, Hilton, Metropolitan, Shangri La, One & Only Royal Mirage, Starwood, Marriott, Oberoi, Kempinski, Chedi, Taj Exotica Reosto & Spa and Dusit. Other projects include the building of Al Basri Building, Al Habool Building, Al Anbar, the Emerald Palace, Oceana, and the Trump Plaza and Marina Residences. The construction of the island Palm Jumeirah began in June of 2001 and ended in mid- 2008 (Woodgate, 1998, p.264).
