Overview

Project management is a systematic approach rather than a tool. Project management is the field of organizing, managing and planning resources in order to allow the successful achievement of a particular set of objectives and deliverables in the structure of the project. A project is a transitional effort, having a defined start and end (primarily constrained by quality, cost and time), carried out to deliver specific objectives, commonly to bring about benefit or beneficial change.

The field of project management is burdened with political progression for numerous reasons. In many organisations, project managers do not have an established power base, neither dominant authority nor higher status. The project managers are needed to learn other influential methods in order to secure resources to attain success of project. A major political issue in project management is that often projects exist outside the usual structure; this needs the transfer of project managers to the position of supremacy. Many times project managers are not provided with an authority to carry out the evaluations of formal performances of project team members. The culture of organisation has a lot to do with the success rate of the project. In project management, culture comes into main play, in various areas. In addition, the structure of organisation can hurt or help success of project. The organisational culture can also obstruct the ability to share resources (Gottlieb, 2007, pp.43).

Identification and Solution to Security, Ethical and Legal Issues of Project Management

Security

Nearly all projects produce or use some type of information technology and information. Some type of security is needed in order to protect this information. In the project life-cycle, planning security is a major part. A threat of security is something that jeopardises availability, integrity and/or confidentiality of system's data. In order to carry out effective project management, a project manager needs to plan and design a system from the start of the project, and must review that plan on continuous basis, during the project life cycle (Harold, 2003, pp.130).

Ethical

The biggest ethical issue that many project managers face is related to dealing with project stakeholders. The biggest challenge they face in this regard is providing an honest communication regarding costs, risks and status. In accordance to the ethical standards, a project manager needs to communicate not just truthfully, however completely, by making use of a language comprehensible by project stakeholders. If any ethical issue arises, the project manager needs to immediately inform project stakeholders.
