Project Management in the Construction Industry

Project Management in the Construction Industry

Task 1

Project management is an approach of organizing a business from the start to finish. The project can be divided into lots or sub-projects or projects in order to obtain subsets whose complexity is easier to control. Construction of buildings and structures always carries a lot of work, investment, and effort. Today the requirements for construction are not the same as before, they grew up. First we need to set the basic parameters of the project, such as the dates of the beginning and end of the stages, performance and budget. Then it is necessary to identify all the parameters of the mutual binding, to develop the concept and design assignment. The most common problem in the management of the projects is to increase the construction budget (Ireland, 2007).

Management of investment and construction projects ensures the implementation of the construction process from finding the property and drawing up terms of reference for the implementation of the construction project. A general description of the nature of project management in the construction industry includes the following factors such as:

Providing engineering and consulting services of Design, calculation and analytical, organizational and research character.

Preparation of feasibility studies for construction projects, making recommendations regarding the organization of construction, production and management, sales, maintenance and operation of residential, industrial, infrastructural and other facilities.

Controlling construction (implementation of continuous monitoring of the construction project in the context of economy and technology in order to ensure implementation of the project in the given parameters.

Other services in the field of construction engineering, including direct project management and construction.

Management of construction projects should be carried out by specially trained professionals with necessary knowledge and possess sufficient practical experience. I believe that for our project, the four phased management approach starts with initiation. In initiation, we start the project by business case documentation, study regarding its feasibility, its reference terms, and team appointment and managing a project office. In planning we will design the road map plan regarding project, it includes project plan, financial plan, communication plan, resource plan and acceptance plan. Then execution comes, where we compute the controlling of project delivery, cost, risks, scope, qualities and issues. Closure comes at last, where we wind down project by freeing the staff, hand over deliverables to the client and finalizing the post implementation interview (Kerzner, 2009).

Task 2

Project Manager is a specialist in the field of project management, which is responsible for the planning, preparation and execution of a specific project. Typically, such a position and activity takes place in industries prone to project work. Project Manager is the administrative head of the functional design team that provides operational leadership and oversees the implementation of the work conducted by the project. Many large organizations that are engaged in several projects (especially construction companies and engineering companies) have a chief project manager. He presides over the various projects in the company, coordinate the allocation of resources, and ...
