Introduction

Project Management is all about planning, managing, organizing, controlling, and leading resources to achieve goals and objectives. It is all about successful effort in order to accomplish the project. It is one time effort that is made in order to bring specific results. For instance, construction of a building requires one time effort. The main concern of the project management is to construct a plan that defines or highlights the goals and objectives, evaluate tasks to find out how to accomplish goals, quantifying needed resources, prepare budgeting, and determine timeline for completion.

Project management has certain characteristics such as, its objectivity, and duration for its completion, participation, specific time, and performance and cost requirements. Every project faces certain Constraints like Time, Scope, and Cost. Project management is application of skills, knowledge, tools, and techniques to meet the requirements of the project (Hodgetts, 1998, pp. 211-219).

Discussion

For managing the project, managers are required to manage core functions of the project that includes Scope management, Time management, Cost management, and Quality Management. Scope Management is all about managing and defining the work that is required to complete the project successfully. Scope management process is all about planning, defining, verifying, and controlling the scope. Time management is all about estimation of time to complete the work, development of the schedule and to ensure the timely completion of the work (LeRouge, 1999, pp. 211-219). Cost management means preparation and management of the budget for completing the project. Cost management process involves estimation, budgeting, and control of cost. Quality management is all related to ensure that all the needs of the customer or the person must be satisfied. The process of quality management involves quality assurance, quality planning, and quality control.

Management play their roles in order to achieve the desired results or objectives of the project. Completing a project on time is not the easy task to undertake, many departments, or personnel work together in order to make it possible. Some of the areas of management that are necessary for successful project completion are as follows;

Human Resource management: Human resource is responsible to make effective use of the people involved in the project. Human Resource Management is all about planning of human resource required to complete the project, develop teams to complete different tasks of the project, management of the teams.

Communication management: communication management is all about generating, gathering, distributing, and storing information relating to the project. This process involves planning, distribution, performance reporting, and management of the stakeholders.

Risk management: Risk is inevitable part of any project. It is necessary for the project manager to identify, analyze, and eliminate risk for the successful completion of the project. Risk management is the process relating to identification of risk, qualitative and quantitative analysis of risk, monitoring and controlling.

Procurement management: Goods and Services are required in order to complete the project. This process involves procurement, administration of contracts etc.
