Processing of Minerals containing Rare Earth Elements

Abstract

The study is related to the processing of minerals containing rare earth elements. This phenomenon is important to study as the processing of minerals is important to understand as the extraction or the processing of minerals is vital and crucial for getting the rare earth elements.

The pavilion and future tailings are deposited in a receiving hopper fixed grid of 20 cm. Light with a capacity of 100 tons passing through a conveyor belt to a ball mill of 1.8 m in diameter and 2.1 Mts long with a capacity of 30 tons / hour. The gravimetric concentration area is formed by two teams of concentration connected in series. The section will consist of 4 leach ponds with a capacity of 50 m 3 each, equipped with a mixer 20 HP. In this section the pulp from gravimetric hubs will be mixed with the solution drained and recycled to the plant solvent extraction SX.The permenent solution is pumped from the first settler to control a tank holds 21 m 3, continuing to the solvent extraction section.Laden solution is sent to the first agitator extraction (E 1) mixing with the organic phase from the settler second extraction (E 2).The enriched solution of gold and silver flows from the clarifier S 1 to the recovery unit where they are separated by vacuum deaeration, powdered zinc precipitation and filtration, adding lead salts to increase the speed of cementation.

Processing of Minerals containing Rare Earth Elements

Introduction

The study is related to the processing of minerals containing rare earth elements. This phenomenon is important to study as the processing of minerals is important to understand as the extraction or the processing of minerals is vital and crucial for getting the rare earth elements.

Composition/ formulation

Rare earth metals or rare earth elements as defined by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry is a collection of seventeen chemical element in the periodic table , namely scandium , yttrium , and lanthanides (Kidd, 2001, pp. 191). The Alscandom and yttrium as the rare earth elements because of their appearance in metals with lanthanides and because of their chemical properties similar to it. Named “rare” on these items due to lack of places that were extracted previously, but recently the exception of promethium is unstable, it found a high concentration relative of these elements in the earth's crust, with the fact that cerium is an item-order 25 of the elements most abundant in the earth's crust concentration of 68 ppm (Energy Information Administration, 2002, pp. 101-23).

Manufacture and Process

The manufacturing and processing of minerals containing rare earth elements include the following;

Hydrometallurgical processes as alternatives to the merger

Increasing the rate of recovery of gold and silver present in ores difficult to treat, by the method of cyanidation

Process efficient separation of zinc and copper recovery processes based on the chemistry of surface reactions

Use of iron-bearing residue for stabilization of toxic elements

Unconventional process of leaching of gold ores thiosulfate

Recycling of process water to meet the criteria of ...
