Introduction

In this review I will discuss the book Looking Out, Looking In, 13th Edition Authors: Adler and Proctor Edition: 13th Publisher: Wadsworth Publishing ISBN: 9780495796213. I shall agree with the authors of this book that practical experience gained has significant importance for the personal and relational growth of students. The main theme of this well researched and powerful book is that, by educating the teachers through different kinds of approaches such as emotional communication, peer communication, and role playing communication etc., they are able to learn in a virtual kind of real time environment and hence improving the skills to interact with a student in an effective way. The author chose to make a reference to the communication course implemented for teaching in Norwegian University and used some of the facts from the study conducted to the students in the University, and the factors which effect the teacher while communication and also the influence of such kind of real time environment on teachers. However we come across certain points such as: will the students be able to learn in the absence of teacher in such a kind of environment? Are they willingly participating in the study conducted to assess the emotional qualities, which involves deep acting? etc., Lastly I conclude by giving an in-detail explanation to each of these studies conducted and also various methods that are employed to foster interpersonal skills of a teacher and the points I have raised in particular.

In these kinds of approaches students are made to interact with each other and come with their own kind of approach and findings pertaining to one situation, later they are to discuss about their outcomes with each other in groups.

Peer Communication

Peer communication can be very effective way of educating the teaching students. In peer communication students engage in a lot of activities that improves their communication skills through the team work and also the collaboration and the willingness to learn more and more things. The author points out that there is an increased possibility of ideas between students in the absence of teacher. I agree with the author to some extent that there is more probability regarding the exploration of ideas between the students. But we cannot zero in on that point since it also has the negative effect on the other side of this topic. In the absence of teacher, even there is an increased probability that the harmony between the students may get ...
