Introduction

Health information management is one important field today. It is related to the field of medicine; therefore, it should be made sure that people are looked after very well. Working in this field, I have to make sure that I work according to the rules and regulations of the company and also ensure that we manage people in a way that will help them in recovering better. This part of the paper will discuss how I will work towards preventing problems. The second part of the paper will discuss the role of the risk manager and what duties and responsibilities he has to perform.

Technology has paved way for many inventions and has taken the world to an entirely new level. It has made the world a global village and has given the world many things, which are useful, but at the same time it has negative impacts on the world. This has made the role of technology very doubtful in the field of medicine. The field of medicine deals with the lives of people; hence, it cannot take the risk of playing with the lives of people (Maner, 1996).

The unauthorized use of information in hospitals is causing a lot of damage to the management as well as the patients. I will make sure that information is not used by unauthorized people. I will also ensure that the hospital staff is protecting the information, and the information is used by authorized persons only. This will help the hospital in making up for the losses. The losses were as severe as the death of patients because the information accessed by people caused them to give wrong dosage to the patients which caused the death of patients. Furthermore, the unauthorized use of information causes the hospitals to lose confidential information. The systems can be damaged by many people so that the information cannot be accessed by the hospital officials; therefore, the use and access to such information should also be restricted.

I will introduce the concept of accountability. The impact of accountability in this field can help to reduce the losses that are suffered by the hospital. Ethically, it is not permissible to access this information in a way that is not allowed by the hospitals. The hospital can make use of its authority and hold people responsible for any wrong doing. The sense of accountability will help in reducing such acts and will also make sure that people do not indulge in such acts.

This act is not allowed legally, as well. People should be held accountable legally if they indulge in such activities (Heitman, 1998). This is where I can use the intellectual property rights. Copyrights, patents, trademarks are all examples of property rights and are used when such incidents take place. These rights are also used when the same work is republished or reused without the permission of the actual person and is published with a new name.
