REFLECTIVE EVALUATION ON “PREPARING TO TEACH”

Training to become a teacher is not so much an apprenticeship as a journey of personal development, in which skills such as classroom management develop alongside an emerging understanding of the teaching and learning process. Learning to become a teacher, and all that this entails- being the sort of person who can command the respect and interest of children and facilitate their learning is a very different phenomenon of that of learning about teaching the genre many of us are most familiar with. In the process of learning through knowledge by different means, I always take interest in sharing my experience and knowledge with those who are in need of such teaching. After completing my education I wanted to choose a career where I can explore new minds and can learn different and work with challenges on daily basis, so I choose field of construction. But few years working in construction field, I was still not satisfied with my profession, so I decided to explore new career options.

I started searching and reading about different careers, I found many options which were related to my field but did not fascinate me in terms of learning experience. Then I met a person in the diner who told me about himself and his career. He had the same thoughts like mine and wanted to choose a career that presents new challenges everyday; so he sorted out his career options and found teaching to be a healthy opportunity for him. After giving teaching a try he found it to be the right career for him and subsequently decided to be a full time teacher.

After that fateful meeting in the diner I decided to look into teaching as a career path, I went through different websites and forums to acquire an understanding of teaching as a profession. I learned that teaching is not a one-way street; in fact, it is all about knowledge sharing. People exchange views and their thoughts while have fun and using through different tasks to acquire in depth knowledge. I decided to start off as a part time teacher in a college in order to experience the knowledge sharing life.
