Introduction

Formal research means to conduct an experiment or research under safe and controlled situations for the purpose of testing, demonstrating or discovering a hypothesis. Contrary to formal research, a business proposal is an organized and systemic way of collecting of information and data with the intention to arrive at a favorable result or conclusion for a stated situation or problem. Both of them have its value and application in the business, however there are some different features that are unique to each other.

Discussion

The different between the formal research and business proposal can be found in goals. The goals in a business proposal can be found in a proposal introduction or in an overview section of the proposal. As compared to business proposal, formal research is different because it usually focuses on the data or information findings and analysis that allows the company to make favorable decisions (Jane, 2013). It can be seen that formal research helps the business to make suggestion in terms of introducing new services or products to general profit for the company. The approach of the formal research is more theoretical, and the approach of the business proposal is practical to generate money.

Moreover, there are more things to consider while making a comparison between the two in terms of content present in the business proposal and formal research segments. Similarities can be found in both the proposals in conclusion and introduction part, but there are differences in other segments of the proposals. A business proposal does not the methodology section to be used, while formal research has a methodology section that enlighten the finding and analysis of data and information. The purpose of the business proposal is to provide suggestion to the company after the research has been conducted about a product. A formal research presents the information about the cost of the research, whereas business proposal includes a proposed budget that allows the business to initiate a project.

Formal research allows the company to make decision about the product or service, whether the company should attempt to make a product innovation or change in budget. A business proposal is an outcome of a formal research that has been conducted. A research proposal determines the demand as a whole for a service or product, while business proposal determines the means to develop and market them best (Jane, 2013). Moreover, financial analysts and product developers usually consider formal research for the purpose to make decision whether they have to make product innovation or invention or not. On the contrary, business proposal is considered for the determination to enter into the market in best possible way after the development of the product.

Conclusion

Business proposal and formal research proposal plays a vital role in business. Both the proposal provides reasons to make decisions in favorable of the business and without the proposals business may have to face a loss in terms of business decisions.
