3.1:Identify dangers to health and safety of young and children

Today I appointed health and safety officer which means her job is to do checks of the nursery to make sure things like doors, out door equipment, children bathrooms are checked regularly and in working order, all staff are trained in health and safety so we get taught how to pick and carry things correctly i.e.; picking up children carrying equipment ect.   

I am aware of, and follow, my settings health, safety and security procedures before I start work.Ensure that before I begin any work activities I check and use any risk assessment examine the areas in which I work and any equipment I have to use to ensure that they are safe, hazard free and conform to legal and the settings requirements for health and safety remove, where possible, hazards that might pose a health and safety risk to myself and others.

3.2:Dealing with dangers at work

As a member of staff I was taught the following to help with health and safety in my setting:• water hazards, for example drains, puddles, water trays;•hazardous substances and equipment;• the use of socket covers in electrical sockets;• which doors are locked and which ones are open

The Statutory framework makes sure the premises and equipment are up to standards as well as all documentation is done and is kept updated and on hand if needed. In my nursery we have a suitable person that is in charge of all of the health and safety legislation and policies and procedures that are implemented in my workplace, she makes sure everything is done that the health and safety officer finds that needs attention. 

3.3:undertaking risk assessment in work

Today I checked for the dangers and safety, health and security risks while working. I took appropriate action if there is any likelihood of injury or a mishap.

Also I used approved procedures when doing dangerous work activities, which consists of using the correct handling and moving techniques. Also I wore protective dressing catering to the environment and the situation. In dealing with the spillages and the waste disposal the protective dressing is must to wear.

Immediate and appropriate actions to be taken to tackle with the health and the environmental emergencies consisting of the security, fire , and critical and lesser accidents with the use of first aid. The recording and reporting of the incidents is necessary. this will accurately, completely manage the risk according to the legal and organizational requirements.

For a child to develop it has to take some risks. It is the job of families to ensure that the risks taken are minimal. Most of the adults let the child stay away from harm but without taking risks how a child will learn. The example is that if the child is learning how to walk then they need to learn how to balance.
