Policies refer to a set of rules which are designed to ensure standardized operations within an organization, country or nation. Moreover, where policies are usually designed to be the same for the entire nation, differences exist on the basis of subcultures or requirements of diversified people living within a single nation. United States of America is a very diversely populated nation where people belonging to different cultures, races and ethnicity reside.

Similarly, some of the designed policies differ on the federal, state and local levels. In order to understand the role of federalism in different policies and the differences which exist within these policies; an in depth discussion regarding the relevant factors and policies is required. The thesis of the essay is that federal and states' policy regarding marijuana are different; however, this problem should be resolved using communication and federalism simultaneously.

Medical Policies regarding Marijuana

Marijuana is a type of drug used for different purposes including medical treatment as well as intoxication and drug abuse. In order to limit the usage of Marijuana, different medical policies have been designed and implemented throughout the nation. With regards to the usage of Marijuana, the federal policy states that there are no exceptions and there is a complete ban on the cultivation, distribution and consumption of Marijuana throughout the nation.

However, when we look at the policies within different states of the United States, around one third of the states of United States of America legally allow the cultivation, distribution and consumption of Marijuana. Based on this differentiation, a number of conflicts arise within the federal, state and local governments on a regular basis.
