Introduction

Being a care assistant requires providing basic personal care, social care and emotional support in the context of helping elderly people for the accomplishment of their daily tasks. My role as a care assistant is to enable older adults to successfully be highly independent as well as being socially and physically active. Different policies have been developed with regards to the job nature and job duties of care assistants and thus the intricacies in the context of care assistants have been addressed to a great extent. Since the job of care assistant requires extensive interaction with elderly people and they have to perform their professional duties with inadequate resources, the different policies have been influencing the job role of care assistants in a comprehensive manner. The policies in the context of care assistants within the nursing homes have greatly shaped the job duties of care assistants and have the potential to successfully counter the threats associated with the job of care assistants (RCN, 2013).

Discussion

The purpose of care Standards Act 2000 is to provide a proper regulatory framework which includes commissioning and proposing regulations for care assistants and hospitals and other health care units which are operational within United States. The implementation of act ensures that proper medical services and healthcare services are provided to the people in order to ensure the quality of the health care and lifestyle. Under the Care Standards act the care assistant is defined as an individual who is responsible for delegating, providing a supervising duty to the other care personnel in the respective field. The act ensures that free and quality health care should be available to everyone who is a tax payer while the personal care is subjected to charges. However there are still some anomalies in the system which is unable to distinguish between both personal and nursing care. People suffering from Alzheimer disease are subjected to nursing care while people suffering from cancer are subjected to nursing care.

Various research organizations and monitoring teams have been developed which are primarily working on the implementation of the rules and regulations of the act. These bodies will be continuously researching and developing new polices which can facilitate and augment the health care facilities along with nursing.

The primary focus is on care assistants because a nurse is the only individual who implements these regulations which are enacted by the legislative body. Monitoring will be visiting the healthcare units and then providing the reports in the quality of implementation of the policies which are provided by the Care Standard Act 2000. The objective of the act is to ensure that polices should be implemented at all levels and care assistants should be taking care of the patients disregarding the fact that how the payment has been made by the people.
