Introduction

The functions of the law enforcement agencies have evolved due to the changes in the nature of the crime that has been witnessed. The police of a particular country have different functions that are established in accordance with the different levels of operation that they have to perform. The policing function has to be done at local, state and federal levels differently. The paper will explain the differences between the functions of policing at three different levels and how a change in law can change the way policing will be done in future.
