Being physically active is not only good for our health but is also essential for the growth of our economy. It is not only beneficial for us, but also for our family and the community. Communities of the world that have recognized the importance of being active, participate in different activities of the community, which makes them more productive, along with reducing the affects of environment. Physical activity helps a person in staying away from different diseases like, diabetes, cancer and other heart diseases. It is off immense importance that we involve ourselves in different physical activities specially the elderly people, to help them remain active. According to a research it is due to physical inactivity which has caused the death of almost thirteen thousand people every year alone in Australia.

It is off essential importance for ole people to keep a strong hold on their daily physical activity, physical activity is something that is beneficial for everyone no matter how old or young the person. It has been observed through researches that the problem of physical activity is more common in old people then in youngsters. Keeping this point in mind the (Department of health), has proposed a list of activities that old people should adopt in order to keep themselves physically active (Newson & Kemps, 2007).

It does not matter how old the person is, he or she should always have some sort of physical activity plan. This would help them to stay away from sickness, along with maintaining a satisfactory physical and mental condition.

It is necessary for elderly people to keep themselves involved in different physical activities throughout the day. This could be done by developing a habit of incorporating fitness, along with flexibility and strength. Such activities would enable elderly people to remain physical active throughout the day.

It is highly recommended that elderly people should spend almost thirty minutes daily in performing different physical activities.

Older people, who are thinking of starting a new physical exercise or activity, should begin with a level which could easily be expectable and manageable for their body. They should start to build up towards the exercise as time passes by and their body starts to get flexible and more adoptable to the activity.

It is highly recommended for elderly people to adopt safety and precautionary measure before involving in any physical activity. They should always adopt a manner which is both adoptable and suitable the body. This way an old person can enjoy energetic physical activity for the rest of his life.

Along with that the health department has also proposed a set of physical activities that could be adopted by elderly people.
