Question 1: Frege begins “On sense and nomination” by stating that identity is puzzling. Explain what it is about identity that Frege finds puzzling. (To do this, explain the little argument Frege gives, in the first paragraph of “On sense and nomination”, against what I have been calling the 'object theory of identity”.)

In the writings “Sense and reference”, Frege has presented his views about the explanation of the puzzling. In this writing, he has given distinction between the sense and reference. He said that it is puzzling that the along with the general terms, proper names also have sense and references. It is the potential of the identity statements that they convey the factual information because there is a difference between the forces of the two signs (David, 2004, p. 26).

In the On sense and reference, Frege says that the challenging questions arise because of the identity. It is difficult to provide answers for these questions. There is a puzzle raised by the identity question. He gave the examples of reference between the morning star and the evening star. Frege says that there is a great and valuable extension in the knowledge. He mentions that equality of the content is puzzling. It is difficult to properly identify the relation between the different contents. He said that there is difference between the equality of the contents and symbols because all the symbols give double meanings. He mentioned the theory of references, and according to him there is a link between the language and expressions (Patricia, 2007, p. 321). There is a contribution of truth and falsity of sentences. The “On sense and Reference” has a huge importance in the philosophy and Frege says that each and every thing has different identity. There is a huge difference in the work of Frege. There are different philosophers who have become familiar with the theory of Frege. Frege said that creating the difference between the identities is not correct. It is very difficult to make distinction between the identities.

2. Explain how Frege dealth with the puzzle about identity in his Begriffsschrift. I.e., explain what, according to the Begriffsschrift theory of identity, is the proper analysis of a statement like “Hesperus is identical with Phosphorous”, and explain how this analysis is supposed to dispel Frege's puzzle about identity.

Frege's main scientific goal is to mathematics as a logical strictly justified science building, as was ". The strongest evidence is obviously the purely logical, which, disregarding the special nature of things, is based solely on laws upon which all knowledge" Frege it was about the denied by Kant analytic character of arithmetic fact to prove that the arithmetic is reduced to logic, is presented so as part of the logic: "It found that if the arithmetic just one more educated logic, every arithmetic sentence is a logical law, however, be derived.” This program is usually regarded as that of the logicist foundation of mathematics or as called logicism (John, 1990, ...
