Introduction

Pharmacy practices are usually carried in a health care environment. The major target of any pharmacist is to improve health conditions. Over the recent years, the number of medicine manufacturing has increased. These medications are improved over the decades in quality. However as the demand of medicines are increasing, the developed and industrialized countries are facing new challenges. Some of the major challenges faced are:

Rising costs of pharmaceutics and health care

Inadequacy in financial resources

Lack of human resources in health care sector

Increasing demand of medicines

Change in the socioeconomic and political environment faced by developed countries (WHO report, 2001).

However, globalization has solved most of these problems by facilitating the trade of medical products and has improved the health care environment considerably. Still the access of pharmaceutics remains an issue globally as quality of the medicines isn't assured. On a global analysis, one third of the world's population is still unable to access essential medicines (WHO report, 2002).

One of the limitations in the underdeveloped countries is also the affordability of medicines. All these constraints can be sufficiently decreased by ensuring the rational use of the medicines. For example, individuals prescribed with any medicine should ensure that they receive appropriate medications in accordance with their clinical needs. Moreover, health care sector reforms can also play a major role in improving the pharmaceutics sector. The scope of pharmacy has however diversified over the past few years. Some of the practices are highlighted below:

Improved counseling and patient care

Monitoring drug therapy

Providing adequate information about a particular drug

All these factors are contributing majorly towards patient care in the field of pharmaceutics (Wiedenmayer K. et al, 2006).
