Self-knowledge is to know oneself, including one of the characteristics, feelings, behaviors, and to know your limits, what kind of situations you may experience at work. If you know yourself it can help you, objectivity and help you in different situations. Develop self-awareness can help you recognize when we are stressed or under pressure. There is often an effective communication and interpersonal relations and the development of empathy for others. The best way to be yourself is self-confident, look at himself through the Johari window; it shows you things about yourself, what have the people and how you see yourself.
The Johari window is the framework for understanding the self and a template to increase self-knowledge. It shows you parts of yourself that you were never aware of the blind itself shows you what other people notice that you may not have seen about themselves. The free surface is things you already know about yourself. The hidden areas are things that you do not want people know about you, because it is personal or problems that you that you have treated, but can still effect you have with some situations. The Johari Window and self-awareness go hand in hand, to be aware, you need to see how other people perceive and know what to do and helps you realize greater self-confidence. The Johari Window is a simple and useful tool for the realization and improvement of self-perception, and understanding between individuals within a group.
The benefits of independence are to be aware that you know your limits, what you do and what you cannot. You can be objective and you will increase your ability to communicate effectively. Social workers should be self-explanatory aware of situations so that they understand their customers and not the tendency, so that the customers they deal with their situation to help without trial.
Reflexive and reflective practice
I was asked to complete a preoperative assessment on an elderly woman for cataract extraction using an ICP for the intra-ocular surgery under LA. During the evaluation process, they expressed several times that they are extremely sensitive to things around eyes, in evaluating which I watched by her body language and tone, she was very nervous and anxious about the whole person in the hospital experience. During the assessment I have tried to reassure them and gain their confidence by friendly and humorous, but also explains, was expected at each step of the process and what they are up to the end of my part of the evaluation, they had much more relaxed. Since I am not qualified for the review I had to get one of the senior sisters and complete the assessment, by all measurements and readings from the eye to all essential before the start of the operation at a later date have been completed.
