Chapter 2: Literature Review

Organizational communication

Organizational communication is the branch of communication that deals with the transfer of knowledge within organizations. Organizational communication includes: (Drucker, 2004)

•The methods used by people to communicate within an organizational context.

• interact with the organizational structures in the process of organization and communication (Wikipedia 2006: organization of the communication). When the communication refers to organizations, there are four main objectives that focus on:

Control

The communication acts as to control the behaviour of members of different ways. Organizations have the authority and hierarchies some official guidance that the work must follow. A situation, for example, to explain this aspect of communication in organizations is that when employees wish to report any complaints about their work to their immediate superior, as problems in carrying out their professional responsibilities, or accept company policies, control acts as the communication.

Justification

Facilitates communication motivation and makes it easier for staff to figure out what to do, their level of performance to do and how to make improvements that are needed. The structuring of specific objectives for the organization, feedback on progress towards achieving these objectives, and the fortification of all desired behaviors stimulates the motivation and the disclosure of the application. (, Booth 1993)

Emotional expression

Many employees interact socially with their working groups. This communication takes place within the working group is an important source for the group to express some feelings such as frustration and satisfaction. The disclosure in this context, organizations provide a way for employees to express their emotions and feelings

Effective Communication

If you want to be successful, you need to group effectively with others who help you accomplish your goals. No small team or large bureaucracy operates with a single mind (Burtis & Turman, 2010, p 7). Conrad and Poole (2005) in the modern world, people can accomplish relatively little acting alone (p 109). To be effective, organizations must utilize two critical linkages to sustain positive intra-organizational relationships: open and clear communications (Mosley, Leon & Petri, 2001, p 290).
