Design a program that meets the needs of both the department and the employees

One of the main reasons for the inefficiency of the patrolling force is the rigid policies of the police department which makes it difficult for them to work and perform in such environment. The first step Captain Strong must take is to review the department policies and assess its impact on the morale of the work force. She has to come up with a kind of program which not only look after the interest of the department and the community but also take into account the job satisfaction level of the department's employees (Drucker, 2007).

The devised program should provide the employees a platform to express their concerns and provide suggestions for the betterment of the department and ensure that the departmental head would take these findings seriously for the benefit of both parties (Drucker, 2007).

What philosophical approach do you believe Captain Strong should take in carrying out this project?

Captain strong should act proactively which means taking the initiative to resolve this issues and at the same time take responsibility for her actions. She should put herself in the shoes of the employees and see the departmental policies from their eyes. She should actively listen to their concerns and take actions on the valid points they raise about the improvement within the system (Drucker, 2007).

In addition, she must make them realize that she understand their concerns and working day and night to resolve it as soon as possible. Making employees feel that their head understand the suffering they are passing through would develop trust among both and make it easier for them to arrive at a mutual consensus (Drucker, 2007).
