Introduction

On January 29, 1954 Oprah Gail Winfrey was born to unwed, teenage parents in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Oprah had a hill of obstacles already in front of her as a newborn baby. She was born to unwed teenage parents, she was feminine, she was very dark, and she was poor (Glaister 1). Oprah's mother was an eighteen-year-old housemaid entitled Vernita Lee. Her dad was a twenty-year-old managing obligation in the equipped forces.

 

Discussion

For the first six years of her life, the young Winfrey was increased on a Mississippi ranch by her grandmother. Oprah has asserted that dwelling with her grandmother likely kept her life ("Oprah Winfrey Biography" 2). While in her grandmother's care, she was educated to read at a very early age, instilling a love of reading in her that she keeps today. She started her public talking vocation at the tender age of three when she started reading out blaring and reciting sermons to the congregation of her church ("Oprah Winfrey Biography" 2).

Oprah has said that she learned her grandmother state on some events that Oprah was "gifted." While the young child didn't understand precisely what being "gifted" intended, she considered that it intended that she was special. And that was sufficient to hold her going. ("Oprah Winfrey Biography" 1).

Her mother determined to put her into a detention home. Fortunately for Oprah, she was refuted admission to the dwelling because there were no openings. So, in what may have been her second foremost stroke of good luck, she was dispatched to reside with her dad Vernon Winfrey in Nashville. Before she stopped her promiscuous and untamed demeanor, she became with child and provided birth to a stillborn baby young man when she was fourteen. The death of her baby shocked her and she promised to turn her life around (Jones 12).

Her dad assisted her with her objective by strapping her with his firm directions and discipline. Vernon made certain that his daughter attached to her curfew, sustained high degrees in school and boosted Oprah to be her best. Oprah's dad assisted her turn her life around. Oprah has talked of his obligation that she read a publication each week and entire a publication report on the book.

At the age of nineteen, Oprah set down her first job as a reporter for a wireless position in Nashville. Shortly after, she went into Tennessee State University to chase a vocation in wireless and TV broadcasting. During her freshman year at TSU, Oprah won some pageants, encompassing "Miss Black Nashville" and "Miss Tennessee." In 1976, Winfrey shifted to Baltimore, where she hosted the TV brief converse show, People Are Talking. The show became a strike and Winfrey resided with it for eight years, after which she was employed by a Chicago TV position to owner her own forenoon show, A.M. Chicago. Her foremost competitor in the time slot was Phil Donahue.
