Introduction

This paper demonstrates the understanding of project management as well as the implications of knowledge in practical example. Understanding of project management will be discussed with regard of the case study of Stickley Furniture. The case study contains five questions that will be answered in this paper with the reflection of learning and understanding in the class. This paper also includes the advantages and disadvantages of project organization that the company follows.

Stickley Furniture

The story of the Stickley started with the phrase of Fleming craftsman, “Als Ik Kan - to the best of my ability”. The guiding principle was based on this phrase for Stickley furniture. Gustav Stickley manifested his offering with these three words that gives the idea to customers that furniture is crafted with the finest quality of material, every part of the furniture is made with pride, integrity, and honor.

In the early twentieth century, Stickley brothers were noticed prominently into international market of the furniture. Oak designs were the mission of both the brothers. They responded to the industrial furniture production company at that time with their products, and kept their belief to design and produce their furniture with integrity, that slapped the false journey, needless showiness, and careless workmanship.
