The objectives of the study were to establish the percentage of obstetrician gynecologists' patients, who have been tested for HIV, Obstetrics and Gynecology, are the two surgical specialties dealing with the female reproductive organs. The study deals with examining patients' attitude towards HIV testing and their patients' knowledge about their own risk status, although most pregnant women agree to test when asked, doctors sometimes are reluctant to suggest it for fear of offending them. The questionnaire has been conducted in a way that it can find out the crucial reasons why patients reject for an HIV test, a rapid HIV test can provide results in an hour, and so infected women can be given anti-HIV drugs intravenously during labor, significantly reducing the risk of transmission. The learning objectives of the study include patients recall of how their specialist i.e. obstetrician gynecologists' loom the topic of testing HIV.

The overall objective of this study was to look into the patients perceptions towards their Obstetrician gynecologists and their practices related to testing HIV, advances in these fields have provided obstetricians and gynecologists with new options in the treatment of their female patients.

The study design that was used in this study was survey packets, that data was collected by mailing the survey to 687 obstetricians' gynecologists that are member of the CARN, data reported from 851 patients from whom 297 were pregnant women while 554 were non-pregnant.
