Introduction

Although many countries worldwide are encountering the issue of obesity, however, the problem is mounting in the United States more than the other countries. In America, a unit is used to measure the energy of food that is consumed by the body in order to maintain the normal functions of the body. When the calories of the food that is consumed is equal to the energy of calories that a utilized, the weight of the human body remains same. However, when the amount of calories is greater than the body requires, more importantly when the calories consumed are not burned, the body reserves the extra calories in the form of substance which is commonly known to everyone as fats. This results in abnormal weight gain and results in obesity. There are many reasons that result in obesity and it results in many consequences because of which complications occur. There are several factors such as genetic, socioeconomic and hormonal factors that result in obesity.

In the previous years, the human beings who were overweight were considered as people with good health but now everyone is aware of the fact that it results in various complications. However, the most common of these include cardiovascular problems, diabetes and cancer. Besides this, the other factors that result in obesity is because of the environment in which an individual grows up. Parents of children who taunt them are very much concerned about their bodies. Therefore, it is essential for the human beings to live positively and to live a healthy lifestyle for which medical evaluation should be done from time to time (Smith, 1999).

Discussion

With regards to obesity in America, there are many aspects that result in consequences that are the result. Obesity results in many hazards as well as consequences which include consequences that are physical, environmental and social. From these, some of the major consequences have been discussed below.

Type 2 Diabetes

In America, there are more than eighty percent of the people who are affected by Type 2 diabetics. This is because this is the most common disease that a human being becomes a victim of when he or she is overweight. With regards to the data that has been collected from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and survey conducted by Nutrition Examination, it has been shown that there are two-third of adult men as well as women who have been diagnosed with this disease. This is mainly because of their body mass that exceeded 25 and reached 27 or exceeded this also. The individuals who have a body mass which is greater than twenty-five are considered as unhealthy. The disease develops when the human body is unable to produce enough insulin in the blood in the body.
