Introduction

The maintenance computer science is a field of application of computer science and a special area of the computer science industry, which is mainly concerned with care-related task-centric applications, information systems and e-Health employs. It relies in part on the findings of the medical computer science. Care in all areas of computer science will care health and medical care and the elderly used (Ball & Hannah, 2011). As part of the field of nursing science, computer science will care (also under the names of Healthcare Informatics and Nursing informatics) are offered in some countries as an independent study course or postgraduate studies (American Nurses Association, 2001). Computers in Nursing, uses computer technology to manage data and information derived from any task or procedure inherent in the nursing activities that are proper to carry out their duties.

An important part of maintaining computer science results from the international standardization of nursing terminology that the increased use of the NANDA taxonomy, the Nursing Interventions Classification , Nursing Outcomes Classification and the International Classification of Nursing Practice of the International Council of Nurses is born out. The mapping of these classification systems with which the term catalogs for nursing diagnoses and problems, interventions, outcomes and nursing care is a priority of computer science. The implementation and expansion of relevant nursing classifications, however, depends largely on the development of the national nursing (Anderson & McFarlane, 2011).

Discussion

Today, nursing worldwide, takes matters which are recently ventured into different countries around the world. Functions care, teaching, administrative, and research of nurses, the implementation of new technologies, the necessary management of large volumes of patient data, make necessary a provision, management and treatment of information efficiently and effectively. Since the computer responds appropriately to these new needs, is what emerges in the global scope of nursing, the term informatics in nursing or nursing informatics, as it is called internationally (Cashin & Cook, 2011).

History

In 1987, the nursing working group of the "International Medical Informatics Association order instituted as the improvement of self-knowledge of information technology in nursing for use in the field of medical, administrative, educational and research of this specialty. Since that time, nursing informatics has been developed and has become a practice closely integrated to the context of it (Anderson & McFarlane, 2011). This activity has allowed the development of computer systems for data handling, efficiency and quality of the steps inherent in professional nursing. Consequently, it requires a solid preparation in nursing with these new procedures to enter them in the analysis and scientific computing applied to it (Thede & Sewell, 2010). Computers in nursing are an important tool in support of everyday practice, facilitating it and bringing it to a higher degree of efficiency (American Nurses Association, 2001).
