In this research paper we will discuss about the different concepts regarding the profession of nursing. First we will discuss Personal Self-Concept of the nurses followed by the Professional Self-Concept (Values), along with the definition of nursing that I prefer. I will provide a brief overview about the nursing theory that I found closes to my definition of nursing, next I will enlist the professional goals that a nurse should have. In the lateral part of the paper I will be discussing the professional self concept of nurses regarding their knowledge and skills. In the end I will illustrate the list of self concept that I posses and the ones that I desire to achieve.

Personal Self-Concept
As far as my personal self concept is concerned I have the qualities that all the nurses should possess, I am caring, compassionate, I have good communication skills, I have the knowledge essential for dealing under extreme circumstances and most importantly I have a list of professional goals set for myself, which according to me is of immense importance for every person who wants to join this profession. I have deep insight at the health related issues that are present in the society. I also have some ideas of resolving those issues. I am ready to provide all the effort and energy that I can for the betterment of humanity and making this world a better place.
Professional Self-Concept (Values)
I always wanted to work for the betterment of the humanity, I have resisted doing wrong deeds, I have never failed in any task that I have taken on my hands until now. I have a strong believe in serving the humanity for the good of the world. The biases that I carry along with me is that is that I have very fast decision making ability I can take decision of what to do and what not do under the circumstances. I think it is one of the most important qualities that I possess, and according to me it is going to guide me a long way in my carrier as a nurse. It is my desire that these values remain the same for the rest of my life.
Definition of Nursing
Nursing is profession which encompasses the collaborative and autonomous care of the individuals living in the world. The individuals could be of any age, race, caste, community, sick or well no matter what the circumstances it is the job of the nurse to take care of individuals. Along with that it is the job of the nurse to promote health related activities, for the prevention of illness in the society. It is the job of the nurse to take part in research activities that are dedicated towards the well being of the humanity, along with educating other people regarding the roles of nursing (Henderson, 1991).
