Explain the Elements Essential for Effective Delegation, Barriers to Effective Delegation, Strategies to Remove Delegation Barriers, and Key Guidelines to Ensure Effective Delegation Consistency.

Delegation means authorizing a subordinate to carry a specific task. It is very essential to understand that it is the authority of doing the task that is being delegated not the final responsibility. The final responsibility remains with the delegator and not the subordinate assigned to carry the task. In order to experience effective delegation is important for the delegator to focus on certain factors for example clear explanation of context and duties, two way communication, grant of authority and creation of obligation. Once the task is clearly explained to the subordinate it reduces the chances of any mismanagement or misunderstanding, thus resulting in effective delegation. Similarly, if two ways communication is maintained and questions are welcomed by the delegator it will eliminate confusions and result in effective performance of tasks. Assigning deadlines and prominent obligations also help the subordinate to perform the tasks with perfection within the time limit authorized.

There are several barriers of effective communication for example many employers fear the failure or losing the total control that what if the subordinate is unable to do the task. Another element involved is being envious of the subordinate's abilities and the idea that “I can do it better”. These two elements often hinder in delegation as many employers have these elements as a common trait. However if these barriers are eliminated it is quite certain to say that delegation can be very successful and efficient. There are many techniques that can be used to remove these barriers for example employers should encouraged to concentrate more on more important tasks by delegating less important tasks to the subordinates.
