Introduction

The basic aim of this paper is to explain the importance of nurse education and how this education helps the professional nurses to choose their career path in the future. The interview provides with an insight into the interaction among education, career path, and opportunities. The interviewee selected is a master's prepared nurse, who bears professional expertise and skills. I will call her miss A in my interview.

Overview of Career

Q- Tell us about yourself?

Miss A: I am a registered nurse. I have completed my masters two years ago. I am a BSN in the cardiovascular ICU in “Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center”.

Q- Tell me about your last jobs?

I started my career as a Research Study Coordinator at Clinical Research Advantage. After that, I joined the college of nursing as an assistant teacher.

Graduate Education

Q- From where did you get your bachelors degree in nursing, and how was that institute?

Miss A: I completed my BSN from the Georgetown University. The major advantage of my university was that we have Georgetown University hospital for clinical practices. During the period of education, we were exposed to the clinical environment. It polished my skills and built self confidence in me. I have also BS, Biology, and Minor in Psychology from the done Stanford University.

Q-while you mentioned the clinical exposure, how was the experience of the hospital, how were you treated there as a student? What is the factor that you enjoyed the most in that time period?

Miss A: I think the experience of the hospital during my studies really helped me in applying my theoretically gained knowledge in practice.

What I enjoyed the most during my graduate education were the visits to outpatient and community clinics, healing centers, and long-term care facilities. We were exposed to a variety of the patient population, including the patients of diverse age, sex, physical status, geographical regions and, socioeconomic setting. This diverse exposure is the vital element for proper learning and gaining experience.

Q- Have you done certification courses? Did they help you?

Yes. I have done courses of basic life support (BLS), Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), and Certification for Adult, Pediatric and Neonatal Critical Care (CCRN). I believe in continued education of the health care professionals. These courses have helped me get my job as a cardiac care nurse in Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center.
