Introduction

Started in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Google is the world's leading search engine. With the help of Andy Bechtolsheim's funding, Google Incorporation was founded in the same year, and today the company is proud to own dozens of Internet related products and services. The diverse range of product offerings of the company includes search engine and browser, mobile applications and blogs, alerts and translation services, developer codes and scholarly papers, and so on (www.google.com). Hence, Google has tapped into all areas of modern user requirements to provide the best solutions in all forums.

The secret of success behind the company's rapid growth has been its focus on providing the best consumer experience. Whenever there is an introduction of new tools or applications, it is in line with the needs of the user so that there's a guarantee of consumer satisfaction (www.google.com).

Part 1

A New Product

This project plan will discuss the proposal for the introduction of a new magazine by the Google Incorporation called Google Mag. Google Mag will be Google's first printed magazine for the general public. It will be published quarterly and will be available for purchase after every four months in the calendar year. The content of the magazine will be based on the most important events that made that quarter of the year special. It will be a summary of the happenings that occurred in those months and will also consist of a section dedicated to the company's progress and innovation in that period. The magazine will be initially sold at £1 for each copy. The target audience for the magazine is people from the age of 18 years to 65 years, who enjoy reading about current affairs and advancements.

The magazine will follow the lead of the video called Google Zeitgeist, which is released every year by the company as a review of the ending year (www.google.co.uk). The difference is that Google Zeitgeist is a video released annually while Google Mag is a printed consumer magazine. It is available four times in a year with fresh content.

Difference From Existing Magazine

Think Quarterly is an existing magazine in Google's product line but serves a very different purpose from Google Mag. It is a business-focused print and digital magazine which does not cater to consumers. Instead, it is a marketing booklet which only Google's business partners receive. It is a way by which Google communicates with its business customers and is available for reading online, as well. It contains data about Google's achievements and accolades as well as articles on the future and society (Halliday, 2011, p.n.d.). In comparison to Think Quarterly, Google Mag is different in terms of content, purpose, target audience and objective. Google Mag is a printed magazine for sale and caters to the general public. It is a review of the year broken down into four months and serves commercial purposes only.
