Negative Event of My Life

Introduction

Mothers are the most beautiful creation of God and to see her suffering from a psychiatric disorder from age 3 is a life-experience that does not need speculations about anything. Let me start with describing a little about “Bipolar Disorder” and also the mental disturbance behind it. Bipolar Disorder is a condition characterized by disorientation of mood, shifting from one pole of depression to the other pole of mania. In America around 2% of adults get affected by this illness each year. The organic cause of Bipolar is yet unclear but believes to be the too high levels of serotonin, a neurotransmitter in case of mania and too low levels in case of depression. Along with treatment solid support from family and friends can help patients to feel more motivated and inspirational towards managing their conditions. Well, life has not been so straightforward with my mom nor did the people around. To sustain family life with this health problem has been a challenging task for all of us. The sorrow and grief upon seeing a loved one being seriously ill is like thinking that we have lost the person we once knew (Emotional Symptoms, Physical Symptoms, Depression Types, and more , 2012).

My Event

Life demands tough psyche and strong brain adaptability to survive. This is true in my case. My mom so dear and loving had been diagnosed for Bipolar Personality Disorder when I was just in my teens. The constant swinging of balance of my life between her episodes of depression and elation, led me understand the true value of a motherhood. Her sickness turmoil of repeatedly being hospitalized across the year and the disruption the disorder created in our personal, psychological and family life worth a story which is traumatic as well as about survival (The Impact and Cost of Mental Illness: The Case of Bipolar Disorder, 2013).

Accuracy of my Memories

The continuous depressive-manic state through which my mother went was not just deteriorating for her but also for our family functioning and physiological development. I remember each and every detail I saw, hear and perceive of my mom's distress and helplessness. My brain was sufficiently developed according to my age and had captured all memories of events later proved to be reshaping my life.
