Introduction

Business Ethics has been used in more than one ways, it has different meanings and the history of business ethics will diverge depending on what type of factors are being discussed while talking about business ethics. History is, however, a personal opinion of the historian and therefore, the views will differ from one to another. Different historians will have a different opinion on how 'business ethics' became a separate entity. The historians will discover different facts and figures and will then give different importance to these facts. The history discussed in this essay is by Richard T. History

Business ethics came into existence back in the 1960s but was commonly used later in the 1970s. In United States, business ethics was given a lot of importance in the 1970s. The origins of business ethics is found in books and articles written by many famous teachers and other academic writers. Many research papers were also found dating back to the 19th century where business ethics was written as a different entity.

When this term became famous among the public and the media, business ethics was used whenever a scandal arose regarding companies. This term was then used commonly and every person would participate in attacking a business for their ethical issues. The history of business ethics also goes back to the times when business became common and at that time business was only as the exchange of goods and services. Business itself had a meaning much later after this, it was incorporated in the economic system as well.

Business ethics also refers to the activities within the business and the movements of ethics which are built and established within the company. There are codes of conducts and the policies that are made within the company for the way they have to incorporate in their work. This term has been adopted all over the world. Although the term has a different meaning in Europe, but the adoption is different in the United States.
