Measurement & Instruments for Quantitative Research Plan

Introduction

The quantitative researches demand proper analysis to ensure content validity, empirical validity, and construct validity for any study. The research regarding intervention programs for children of incarcerated and poor parental attachments requires appropriate levels of measurement which are important for the study. It also includes the concerns for content validity, empirical validity, and constructs validity for study. The reliability of measurement instruments should be analyzed for the better and effective scaling. Population used for scale & tests are determined along with appropriate test for plan & classification between norm or criterion referenced. Appropriate scale to use is also assessed and justification of scale reliability & validity are provided.

Discussion

Levels of Measurement Important For Study

The study entails a broad spectrum of measurement to be followed. Study is based on the intervention programs for the children of incarcerated and poor parental attachment. This study requires various sorts of measurement and various instruments are utilized for the purpose of attaining the objective of the study. An assortment of levels of measurement is important for study (Auerhahn, 2001). This study takes after ordinal level of measurement because of the inspecting in which the members are ordered into gatherings. These groups are further sorted as per the social statuses. The children of detained and poor parental connection are considered over their experience and status. The kids are influenced which could be ordered as more level regarding livelihood and financial conditions (Bonczar, 2003).

The ordinal level of measurement is preferred over other levels which include nominal level, interval level, and ratio level. The ordinal level is suitable for this study. The important perspective of the research is sustaining and maintaining the validity and reliability of the content, empirical, and construct (Baldus, 2004). The level of measurements which are important for this study is ordinal study. The primary responsibility while conducting a research is the determination of measurement level for the purpose of accurately measuring the information. There are four levels of measurement namely; nominal level, ordinal level, interval level, and ratio level. Nominal and ordinal levels of measurement are known as low level measurements due to its basic fundamental nature while interval and ratio levels are known as highly levels.

Content Validity, Empirical Validity, & Construct Validity for Study & Rationale for These Types of Validity In Case Of No Application

Content validity is the extent to which a test adequately samples the universe or domain of items which it is supposed to measure. Empirical validity is determined by directly relating test scores or other predictors to the criterion of interest. Empirical validity is usually expressed in the form of a correlation coefficient, but sometimes a test of significance between the scores of criterion groups is reported instead. Construct validity is assessed by seeing whether scores on a test which purports to measure a given trait, are associated with behavioral differences which a theory says should be associated with the ...
