HP is a one of known companies in the industry and has been working for long in the IT industry. Its extensive distribution network worldwide, so that products are easily accessible to target customers is also one of its strengths. Products and services are of highest quality. The product range is very wide. The financial aspect of the company is really strong; it is a lucrative business if it can be increase its innovations. HP has a very well liked familiarity amidst the public.

Company's Competitors, and their Strengths and Weaknesses

Hewlett Packard biggest competitors are Dell, apple and etc. Dell Computer Corporation was formed in 1984, by Michael Dell; it was nothing more than an upstart among dozens of upstarts. Even in the beginning of the 1990s, Dell was still 25th in the list of computer manufacturers. The list included companies you probably can no longer remember, even if you had known their names, companies such as Mitac or Tandon. In fact nearly all the other 24 in that list of 25 are gone. But Dell has prospered.

Apple runs different businesses and is engaged in offering several products and services like the computer designs, servers, network solutions and software and services. The company is running business in USA mainly having the headquarters in different cities like California and Cupertino.

Dell Strengths

Dell's strengths had a lot to do with inventory. Because of its direct model, the Dell way of selling computers dictated maintaining only live or six weeks of inventory. In contrast, a company like Compaq sold its computers to a retailer or distributor. The retailer or distributor would typically have eight weeks of inventory on hand.

Apple Strengths

It has created the different systems of global production and distribution systems. Apple Inc. has developed the distribution strategies in order to supply its products globally. Apple Inc. has maintained its powerful brand. This is because, global market is so huge and it is necessary for a company operating its business globally, to create a strong brand so that its brand should be globally recognized.

Dell Weaknesses

Dell is a computer maker, not a compute manufacturer. It buys from a group of concentrated hi-tech component manufacturers. In 2004 Dell had to recall 4.4 million laptop adapters because of a fear that they could overheat, causing electric shocks or fires.

Apple Weaknesses

Financial condition might be weak by the patent infringement lawsuit that has an adverse impact on the operating results. Apple criticized for antenna problems in the latest version of the iPhone. Moreover, its admission policies of the iTunes Store applications and user freedom are very restrictive.

HP has a strong market position:

This trend was continued as the company has easily passed Dell, HP's competitor and market leader of PC in 2006. In 2008, HP was leading with over 17 percent of the computer market while Dell came second with 14 percent.
