Introduction

The main purpose of this paper is to select and organization and makes an analytical report on cross cultural issues on an organizational issues faced by the company's manager. The purpose of this paper is to focus on Managing across borders. This paper makes an analysis on the different cross-cultural issues which the managers can face in management. The paper makes an analysis on the issue that it is necessary for the managers of tourism and hospitality industry to understand the concept of cross-cultural management.

The organization selected for this paper is “Hilton Hotels and Resort” based on United States. The paper draws cultural and communication theory. The paper critically analyse how the company is addressing or needs to address current/potential cultural issues. The paper highlights the three aspects that are (1) Team building across cultures. (2) Business communication across cultures. (3) Standardisation versus localisation of products. The paper explains and proposes potential cultural issues in order to improve cross-cultural management in light of theory. The work of this paper draws on cultural theory and concepts covered in the module and show evidence of academic and commercial research.

Company Overview

Sandal resorts are considered to be the most popular resorts in Jamaica. They are planning to start its business in UK market. Almost more than 200,000 nature lover prefer to visit Sandal resorts every year. It is estimated that ever year the tourists and the visitors spend almost $270 million for the recreational activities and food at Sandal Resort.

UK is an ideal place for tourist. People come from all over the world, to visit UK for various purposes. People usually come in party of 2, to enjoy the natural beauty of UK. Most of the tourist falls into the age group of 35 to 44 years. They come to UK to enjoy the serene beauty of UK (Schneider, 2003, p. 42). Though UK is a beautiful country, it has some drawbacks too. The transportation system is not well maintained, and the best transportation network in UK is in Miami. UK is an ideal tourist destination. It is a state of natural beauty. UK offers a rich and eclectic culture and heritage. The finest museums in the world are found in UK. Whoever visits UK love the Disney world in Orland. It is best theme park in the world. UK offers everyone something.

Discussion

Culture is an important factor in any business. If a company wants to operate its business in other countries, then the issue of cross-culture starts. Cross culture issues create many problems for the company in order to start its business and keep it running. Another reason that may give rise to cross-cultural businesses is holding prejudices against any culture. For instance, if employees of an organisation hold a negative view about the culture of another employee then that another employee may hesitate to adjust and work with that organization.
