The study of human minds is always fascinating for researchers. It is primarily because of the fact that home-sapiens have diversified responses to situations and circumstances. The study of these responses in relation to their causes plays a vital role in personal and organizational development. Our planet Earth has a diversity in all of its elements, living or non-living. Every individual is unique in terms of physical or behavioral characteristics. Every human has a different level of intellect. That's why we see a bunch of “extra-ordinary” in every organization. Individuals are born with varying interpersonal skills and personality traits. The correlation between the skills and the job description of a person determines his success in an organizational environment.
The success of an employee contributes towards the overall performance of an organization. That is why; an employee is the most valuable asset of a flourishing organization. Employees work at varying levels within a company. Every job description requires a different set of interpersonal skills besides the qualification. Academic records of a person are important, but the personality of a person determines his success and promotion. Ability to communicate, decision making, emotional stability, management skills and imagination, are some of the factors that impact an individual's performance and growth rate.
It is a mere observation that an individual perform better when he works on something of his personal interest. We take an example of a child in an elementary school. He may be real good with numbers (Math) while weak at sentence structuring. Some kids are good with paint brushes rather than crayons. The idea is to encourage them in what makes them happy yet motivate their interests in other areas. Same is the case in a professional environment. The aim is to provide motivation, learning space, encouragement and appreciation to employees so that they learn and grow.
Management psychology is also known as organizational psychology or work psychology. It is the study of employees' attitudes, organizations and workplaces. The study explains how attitudes and behaviors of employees can be improved through effective management practices. The inputs from management psychologists contribute towards the success of an organization. They guide the organization to improve the workplace environment, performance and job satisfaction, and well-being of its employees. The study focuses on the association between a man and his work world. Organizational development, diversity, work motivation, work attitudes, coaching, trainings and performance appraisals are some of the research areas of management psychology. Management psychologists examine the association of human attributes to overall performance of an organization and provide suggestions for improvement. These suggestions are based on the psychological behavior of an individual.
