Introduction
In this paper, we try to explore the concept of “Information Systems” in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on the importance of IT in different organizations and its relation with the management of IT and its implementation and strategic use in the context of change. The research also analyzes many aspects of Information Technology and tries to gauge its effect on “Information systems”. Finally the research describes various factors which are responsible for “generating the tangible and intangible benefits of Information Systems” and tries to describe the overall effect of “Information Technology” on the IT industry (Fiedler, 1994).
Discussion
In the contemporary world of burgeoning technological innovations and the consequent, ever-increasing competition in the market, the applications and use of Information Technology (IT) has become extremely significant. In any organization, developing, implementing and managing the huge collection of company data and information requires a thoroughly efficient storage system. At the information system level, hard proportions are linked to information as a means to control organizational performance (efficiency and effectiveness) through the constant monitoring of people, tasks, activities, methods or process. Thus, the Soft dimensions are mostly culture-based (within the society, organization, and group culture), given that for information exchange and knowledge creation.
In this regard, every organization endeavors to adopt the most sophisticated and the most efficient Information System utility in the organization. The importance of Information Technology is immense in this age because it is used in more or less all fields of life. From a simple hardware installation to handling and managing an intricate information database, carrying out these activities is necessitated by IT. Businesses, via the use of Information technology have been enabled to properly administer and manage their day-to-day activities and operations.
Information Technology (IT) also helped to enhance the process of networking in business ventures and more and more enterprises are now switching from their manual data handling system to a sophisticated computerized system. Information Technology (IT) has not only reshaped the way an organization works, but it has also made a great contribution towards the enhancement of globalization. This paper explores the importance of IT in organizations, and thrives to figure out whether IT is really important for all organizations or not. It also tries to extract how organizations manage their Information Systems and try to strategically implement and utilize IT in the organization. Moreover, the sourcing strategies that is required at different IT industries in order to deliver breakthrough outcomes for the organization in terms of reduction of costs and improvement of services, the determination of IT costs, including the investments and the management of these costs. Lastly, the paper discusses the tangible and intangible benefits of the Information Technology.
