1.1 Marks and Spencer

Marks and Spencer Group specializes in selling premium products such as apparels, food and home based products. The company is known to operate in a variety of sectors and thus is generating handsome revenues from these sectors. The Marks and Spencer group is also known for operating a chain of superstores in certain locations. Marks and Spencer Group which is a holding company; through its subsidiaries, company is involved in the sale of home, food and also clothing products (Cagan, 2008).

Company operates two operating segments that are International and United Kingdom. In this context, it is important to note that the International segment of Marks and Spencer is based n company's owned businesses in the Asia, Europe and Ireland together with international franchise operations (Turban, 2002, Pp. 56-62).

In addition to this, the segment in United Kingdom is based on the franchise operations of UK and retail business of UK. Moreover, Marks & Spencer (M & S) is a departmental store chain originating in the United Kingdom with over 800 stores. The company was founded by Michael Marks and Thomas Spencer. The first store opened in 1884 in Manchester in England. Today, the Group is listed on the London Stock Exchange and operates stores in more than 40 countries.

1.2 Business Problem of organization of Marks and Spencer

Marks and Spencer needs to successfully address a pertinent problem of sales decline. There have been a set of multiple factors that significantly affect the sales level of Marks and Spencer. The problem in the case of Marks and Spencer is highlighted below for reference:
