Operations management is a combination of two distinctive terms, operations and management. It is essential to understand the meaning of management along with the operations to understand the proper meaning of operations management. Management is all about managing resources, which include individual, resources and other things. On the contrary the term operations, in business world relates to processes and procedures used to complete one business action. Similarly, operations management is all about planning, dealing and managing with different procedures, supply chain activities, product and services (Khanna, 2007, p. 6). It is of great importance to understand the fact that a company wants products and services to be delivered to the customers properly. It is of high importance to understand the utilization of the resources.

Operation management includes different matters. They can be about planning of supply chain activities along with settling on the site and size of manufacturing plants. Operations management is all about operational and tactical issues. According to practical analysis operational issues are mostly related to the protection of equipments, handling of material and relevant traffic and controlling quality and inventory management. On the other hand, tactical issues involve replacement of equipments and designing the structure and design of the plants and equipments.
