A Look at My Mortality and the Meaning of My Life

Abstract

In this research paper we have researched for the in-depth meaning of life and look at mortality in the context of bible. It has been seen that meaning of life differs in different religions, so in respect to bible meaning of life revolves around the birth of Adam to Jesus return. In bible, the mortality or death of the person is not limited to this world; it is believed that there is a life after death where every human being will be awarded heaven or sent to hell.

Introduction

Meaning of my life and Mortality is dependent upon the beliefs of my religion. One significant implication of these conditions is that the meaning of life requires something like a fit between our subjective mental states of contentment and the objective conditions whose presence makes our contentment appropriate. Thus, although we must ask and answer questions about the meaning of life from the human point of view, this does not mean that anything that produces human contentment is, for that reason, adequate for the ascription of meaning. We need not suppose that this implies some deep metaphysical thesis about a benign cosmos. Surely, it is not surprising that in the course of evolution there has emerged an approximate correlation between what we want and what is good for us. Without it, we would not be around to inquire into the meaning of life (Seneca, 1958).

Early Christian writers from Paul through Augustine conceived of death as the separation of an inner spiritual soul from an external physical body: the body dies, and the soul departs. Ideas of this sort had deep roots in both pagan and Jewish thought. If, then, we cast as dispassionate an eye as we can on our lives, we may see ourselves busily engaged in various projects. Some of them avoid being worthless, pointless, misdirected, or futile, and, let us assume, as agents we want to be engaged in our projects, and we reasonably suppose that we are at least moderately successful in working toward whatever are our ideals. Yet, conformity to these conditions, although necessary, is not yet sufficient for the ascription of meaning, as shown by two further considerations (Rachel, 1990).

Meaning of Life

As hinted at above, real meaning both now and eternity is found in restoring the relationship with God lost at the time of Adam and Eve sinned. Today, that relationship with God is only possible through Jesus the messiah. Eternal life through confession of sin (no longer wants to continue in sin, but to give Jesus the messiah change them and make them a new person) and reliance on Jesus as Savior.

Real meaning in life is not found merely in Jesus the messiah (though wonderful as that is). Rather, the meaning of life is when one begins to follow Christ as His disciple, learning from him and spend time with Him in His Word ...
