Learning Styles

Introduction

Learning style refers to an individual's habitual pattern of understanding, expressing and remembering information. It has been observed that learning style varies from person to person. The simplest way to describe learning style is to say that there are various methods of learning depending upon individual's own understanding. There are four significant learning styles including Kinasthetic, Visual, Read/Write, Auditory. People mostly have their own concepts about ways of learning and remembering most suitable to them. It is also significant to be aware with own learning style as it helps in enhancing learning ability (Catherine, 2012).

Discussion

My learning style is Kinasthetic that refers to a practical learner. These learners learn by doing as naturally they are good at physical activities such as dance and sports. Practical work makes them understand well. They like to move around. They are more interested in physical activities rather than sitting on a place and keep learning. They find it very difficult to sit in a class for long hours. They do their best in activities like role plays, simulations, manipulating items and various other methods in which they are physically involved. They enjoy learning form first-hand experience (Fleming, 2006).

Kinesthetic learners learn best through doing including manipulating items, simulations and role plays, and other methods that physically involve them in the learning process. They enjoy and learn well from experimenting and first-hand experience. Moreover, they like to get involved in different activities. To make these learners best understand, it is important to provide them with more opportunities in limited time duration. They must be allowed to role play in order to enhance their learning. They must be offered with different opportunities to get involve and work in discussion groups to discuss about what they study in their course. They must go for field trip in order to ...
