Introduction

Apple is a company apart in the global technology landscape, and that from the beginning where she was distinguished by an inventive and creative daring that allowed him to recover from serious crises in its evolution (Jennings, 2006). Its short history is littered with products that are found in all the museums dedicated to the history of computing from the first Apple computers to the recent iPhone and iPad, passing by course the first Macintosh iMac and vibrant colors (Tillinghast, 2008).

Challenges Faced by Apple

Despite a flourishing health, the giant is going through a turbulent period that conventional wisdom calls "law of series" as the problems seem to be chained to the manufacturer of the iPhone. This is the first release of the iPhone 4S which has led to disappointment for users. The iPad is not doing better in the process; Apple's sales have flattened in recent months, though still at a good level. Besides Apple's latest results have pleased investors and pushed alone stock index of technology stocks (Ferrara, 2012).

Long spared the large-scale virus attacks, viruses also exist on platforms from Apple and the Mac since the beginning, the California firm must now face the same vulnerabilities that rival Microsoft. The recent pirate attack with the Trojan Flashback highlighted the huge gaps operating systems of the giant and his unpreparedness (Esslinger, 2009).

The increase its market share in segments computers, tablets and smartphones, could not let hackers indifferent. This is the price of fame, but where the rub is that Apple is not at all prepared to face these cohorts' digital attackers. Used to manage an environment neglected by hackers, Apple just does not patch the same procedures and update its competitor Microsoft. In an interview quoted by our colleagues at The Point, Eugene Kaspersky, founder of Kaspersky, the publisher of the antivirus namesake, believes that Apple has "ten years behind Microsoft" in the fight against malicious code. Now Apple has to face the attacks and prepare its response as did its competitors in the late 90s, establish procedures for updating and protection that can provide feedback on the attacks (Ferrara, 2012).

Finally, on the judicial front Apple is facing several charges. The latest comes from U.S. justice who just assigns it as well as five major U.S. publishers for cartel pricing ebooks. Note also the revelations of the New York Times on the tips, also perfectly legal, but morally dubious, used by Apple to pay as little tax as possible in the United States. Times are tough for Apple, but the firm has seen other and can be relied upon their creativity to get by, once again (Dess, 2012).
