To determine the effectiveness of the restructuring process in organizational success
To examine the significance of change process in implementing change
Research Questions
What type of change did Apple implemented in restructuring its product divisions?
How effectively the company implemented the change?
Objectives of Change Process
Following were the objectives that were needed to be achieved in order to implement the change process:
To eliminates the day-to-day operating responsibilities through restructuring.
To reduce costs and improve Apple's management
To develop two separate product divisions, in favor of manufacturing and marketing divisions responsible for all Apple products
To eliminate certain duplication that formerly existed between the two product divisions, allowing the work force to be cut.
To win attention, customers, and ultimately, money
Although Apple has been performing exceptionally well, for the past ten years, especially after the introduction of iphone in its product portfolio. Lately, Apple suffered some serious problems in the different regional areas financially that stopped the spending on innovation and made Job think about changing the culture (Bill, 2007). The reason of the choice of Apple for change implementation is that the company replaced the two separate product divisions into the manufacturing and marketing divisions responsible for all Apple products. Apple had to make many strategic decisions in implementing the change including the financial planning, and workforce training. Such radical change requires the understanding of the issues and benefits that company faced by the change implementation and management (Schneiders, 2011).
