No matter how efficient your internal business systems are, and regardless of the quality of the people you hire or outsource to, if you can't manage your time, then you can't be an effective businessperson. Modern time management is a blend of commonsense techniques we've all heard before and the computer technology available today in the form of contact managers, schedulers, and workflow systems. First, let's discuss the fundamentals and how to carry them out. This part discusses the importance of Personal Time Management techniques for accountants.

In fact, time management is a key element behind every success as better time administration abilities can help people advance well in their paths and assist them reduce tension or control stress in ther life (Griessman, 1994). In addition, time management schemes often go incorrect because sometimes the anticipations of time management strategies are too unrealistic. As such personal management should be pursued through goals that are SMART. In fact, it has been seen that some people do not adopt any time management strategy until they are currently dropping behind in their work. In fact, such people take on time administration as a way of catching up (Bell & Smith, 2010).

It is also imperative to develop sustainable strategies to manage time efficiently and effectively. Some of the time management strategies are (Felton & Sims, 2009):

Identification of Time-wasting Elements

It is a fact that people are unknowingly involved in activities that are not useful for them and consume their enough amount of time. For an efficient time management it is important to identify and know what actually wastes time and how time-wasting elements can be eliminated (Felton & Sims, 2009).

Time Monitoring

It is also imperative to monitor all the activities and keep them tracking in order to save time. This allows individuals to know how much time a particular activity requires and adjust time for different tasks or activities (Felton & Sims, 2009).

Time Boxing

This is also an important phase for time management that allows individuals to designate separate time boxes/slots for the tasks that need to be done in future. This step is very useful for long-term projects (Felton & Sims, 2009).

Day Planning

The foremost thing of time management strategy is effective planning of the day that allows individuals to know what they have to do and on what time. In fact, it is also necessary to be careful or meticulous while planning the day (Felton & Sims, 2009).

Task Priority

Another effective time management strategy is to prioritize all the tasks with following tags (Felton & Sims, 2009):
