Introduction
Lee Iacocca stated, "Management is nothing more than motivating other people." The success of an organization depends on the understanding and the relationship between the leadership and the employees. An employee is an important asset to any organization and leadership is the tool that keeps this valuable asset operational and productive to the business.
It is the key function of the leadership to understand the significance and the need of motivating its workforce and more precisely to implement it efficiently and effectively. The Leadership carries an immense responsibility to unite its work force and the top level of administration to keep a relaxing, friendly and prosperous environment at the workplace.
Living in the millennium of 21st century, where the world is leading to the success of technologies, advancements, inventions and discoveries, the demand for skilled labor is rapidly increasing day by day. Labor is the only man-made resource that plays a significant role in getting the final output ready for the final consumption of goods and services. Therefore, it is highly recommended to the organizations to establish advantageous relations with its labor so they are encouraged to produce effectively and efficiently.
Rick Pitino stated, "The only way to get people to like working hard is to motivate them. Today, people must understand why they are working hard. Every individual in an organization is motivated by something different." Indeed it is true as motivation is the basic incentive any employee is seeking. In the competitive industry of trade and commerce, employee motivation is boosting to avoid unhappy labor, the unhappy customers in other words.
It is highly appreciated and yet has become the need for companies to encourage the workforce at the workplace, but studies have shown that the employees are the victims of prejudice. They are facing the issues of racial prejudice, gender prejudice and caste discriminations. Organizations designed their scales to assess the employees on the basis of the color, caste, gender, ethnicity and religion they belong to (Devine, Plant. et.al. 1998).
The essay will highlight in details about the difference between management and leadership and how they both work together and what are the impacts they exert on workforce. To explain this all in more nicely, I am taking the example of a public service organization of England that is British Council.

British Council
The British Council is a United Kingdom-based organization specializing in international educational and cultural opportunities. It is registered as a charity both in England and Wales, and in Scotland. Founded in 1934 as the British Committee for Relations with Other Countries, and granted a royal charter by King George VI in 1940, the British Council was inspired by Sir Reginald (Rex) Leeper's recognition of the importance of "cultural propaganda" in promoting British interests. Its "sponsoring department" within the United Kingdom Government is the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, although it has day-to-day operational independence.
