Latin race and sentencing in the United States

Latinos were discriminated by the early 21st century. There was an increasing number of cases that were reported against the misconduct cases by the police to Latinos. The hate crimes increase, racism and xenophobia also emerged as the serious concerns for the Latinos living in the United States of America. The Hispanics or Latinos were confronted by the issues such as incidences and cases by the law enforcement agencies, harassing, racial profiling and brutalization of Latinos and Hispanics. There are strong racial biases in the criminal justice system regarding the treatment of Latinos or Hispanics living in the United States and the members of other groups (Poe-Yamagata & Jones, 2000). They Latinos or Hispanics living in the United States are more likely to be arrested or apprehended, prosecuted, imprisoned, tried and even sentenced for a longer period of time than other members of groups living in United States (Poe-Yamagata & Jones, 2000).

This issue has been observed by not only the common men but the society as a whole. The justice department of the country also conforms to the fact that Latinos or Hispanics living in the United States are incarcerated more than the majority groups as well as some other minorities groups (Hess & Drowns, 2009).Many people believe that race and culture are the foundations of criminal behavior and actions in a person. This is the reason that most black or African Americans are considered as criminals and are alleged for severe punishments and detentions in the court system.
