Introduction

Events in imperial Russia that culminated in 1917 with the proclamation of a Soviet state called the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR).The Russian Revolution expression is relative to the two successful revolutions in 1917: the first, called February Revolution (March, the Julian calendar then used in Russia), led to the downfall of autocratic imperial monarchy. The second, called the Bolshevik Revolution or the October Revolution, the Bolshevik party was organized against the provisional government installed in the first phase.
