The first article by Kolofotias titled “Is technology ruining the language?” points out the fact that texting using our mobile phones is ruining our language. This activity is playing havoc with our English language. The texting job requires that we use the keypad of the mouse. Therefore, we are left with no other reason but to abbreviate each and every word no matter how small the word. Therefore, we have new types and kinds of contractions that are gaining traction in our everyday usage of the English language. Hence, the texting of messages is contrary to the health of our spoken and written English language.

The article has presented the fact in a formal and neutral tone. The author asserts that this is how the situation is rather than trying to baffle the reader. In addition, the author of the article uses commonplace language to bring home the point that texting is not good for our language. The author further elucidates the wrongful usage of the different words in text messages. These abbreviations and contractions tend to corrupt our language. Therefore, the author is correct to use a negative tone regarding the use of texting with mobile phones, such as people using it for hours and days. However, the author of the article does not use any special intonation or other strong words or feelings to convey the point. The author's point of view and therefore the tone is that of the logical rather than employing any emotional technique or other strong words with emotional connotations. Still, the writer is euphemistic and does not use any words that may suggest impropriety.
