Knowing Scripture

In this book, the author has stressed the importance of bible. The author not only explains the message of bible, but also stresses the fact that it must be read with a purpose to get benefit out of it not only just to read it.

Evidence of the inspiration of the Bible are numerous and convincing. The Bible is the Word of God directly inspired. The inspiration of the Bible can be defined as a direct intervention of God in the lives of human authors of the Bible. These, without giving up their personality or their personal style of writing, have composed and transcribed without error God's revelation to men, on the documents which constitute the original manuscripts autographs. Inspiration means that the Holy Spirit of God guided the human authors in the writing of Scripture so that what they wrote was precisely what God wanted them to write (Metzger, 1987). When you analyze the doctrine of inspiration, drawing forth the essential elements, you find seven key factors:

An origin and a divine causality.

A human factor.

A written expression.

A total and complete inspiration of the Scriptures, and not only partial.

A perfect inspiration of the only autograph manuscripts, that is to say, documents drawn up initially by the authors

Absolutely true character of the Scriptures, because of their divine inspiration.

Final and exclusive authority of Scripture, because of their inspiration and their veracity.

In some respects the doctrine of the divine inspiration of Scripture is more important than all the other doctrines. Any other doctrine and each instruction in piety and devotion come from Scripture. Without the Scriptures we cannot know God and Jesus Christ whom He has sent, which is life eternal. Everything that God reveals Himself in Christ is there. Without the Scriptures we cannot know how to please God the Scripture is our only guide to holiness. If Scripture is the inspired Word of God, we lose everything. This doctrine of inspiration is taught in II Timothy 3:15-17. Here God says that His Word is all "God-breathed" (the word “inspired by God” is a translation from a single Greek word that literally means "God-From-blown").
