Introduction

In this book, “Just work”, the author is addressing various philosophical problems related to work. These problems viewed from the standpoint of political philosophy and ethics. The author also makes certain claims related to the interest for Basic income debates. The primary aim of the book is to apply the ideal of “fit” to the daily work of humans. The concept of “fitting wok” is a key aspect of justice in the society. The main feature of the book is that, it focuses on the neglected issues of political philosophy in today's mainstream. The author is against the present philosophical view which states that no fulfillment and self-realization expected from occupation in current conditions (Noguera, 2006).

Discussion

The thesis statement which follows in this book is that, the ideal of fitting work is an essential part of a wide-ranging theory of social justice. The author also argues that an individual has to discard liberal neutrality and a reasonable perfectionism. The ordinary perfectionism opposes the tyrannical imposition of work roles and the beginning of a compelling obligation towards work. The theory also supports the active hunt for fitting work and representative social authorization for those people who have chosen to live as parasites. The author is of the opinion that basic income discharges public policy from working concerns and legitimate redundancy as valuable as socially beneficial work. Despite of this fact, the demand for the fit entrenched in contemporary social conditions of work. According to the author, there is a predetermined tension between idiosyncratic fit and social fit.
